Four suspects charged with attempted murder after a Yakima, Wash., real estate broker was left for dead at a listing he represented could face murder charges now that the victim has died in hospice care.
Vern Holbrook was 78 at the time of the May attack, in which he was badly beaten and had his throat cut. Authorities say Holbrook suffered brain damage in the attack, and that an autopsy could determine whether the assault contributed to his death Sunday.
Suspects in the case include Holbrook’s former daughter-in-law and her former boyfriend, who authorities say tried to buy Holbrook’s brokerage business and took out a $1.58 million life insurance policy on him. Source: yakimaherald.com.
