Move Inc. plans to expand the new-home offerings of realtor.com to include home improvement features, perhaps as early as this year, Move CEO Steve Berkowitz said in an interview with The New York Times.
“We have a site called NewHomeSource.com where you can literally change the colors of the rooms. That kind of technology will continue to move into the real estate space. Eventually we’d hope to be able to say to a consumer: You’re looking at this house, what would it look like if you remodeled the kitchen? That’ll be on realtor.com at some point,” Berkowitz said.
Move is also considering adding a property history timeline to homes and allowing consumers to view a property’s home improvement history, including the contractors who worked on a home, he said.
“Realtors are realizing that their role is moving beyond content. Their job is actually to bring the content together and become that trusted adviser to the consumer,” Berkowitz told the paper.
