Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg turned some heads when he bought four homes next door to his Palo Alto, Calif., home — presumably to keep them from being torn down and turned into McMansions. One of those heads seems to have been Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer’s.
Mayer just bought a funeral home down the street from her own Palo Alto abode, that city planning documents had identified as “a potential site for up to 21 residences.”
It’s not just Silicon Valley execs who get protective about their neighborhoods. Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan just paid $1.25 million for a home sitting on a 1-acre lot next door to his own Highland Park, Ill., mansion. Source: sfgate.com
