A Canadian-based virtual office website (VOW) will continue to offer basic information on listings in Nova Scotia at no charge, but users will have to pay $3 a day or $29 a month for access to “premium” information like sold history, price changes and days on market.
ViewPoint Realty Services Inc.’s founder and CEO, Bill McMullin, tells CBC News that the “vast majority” of Viewpoint.ca’s more than 118,000 registered users were using the website to explore the market, but not employing his brokerage to assist them in completing a transaction. Other brokerages “would earn all the revenue and we would get nothing, and of course that’s not a sustainable business model,” McMullin said. Source: cbc.ca.
