I see the future and it scares me.
Beginning tomorrow Facebook will begin rolling out their new Timeline feature to all users.
I expect there to be a lot of buzz around this.
I invested significant time over the last few days into understanding the impact this change will have on the Facebook user experience.
I’m worried for our industry.
The most significant design change is in the way your profile picture will be displayed.
Gone is the standard square avatar of the past and enters a new panorama layout that changes everything.
This image will be critical.
Below is what I envision we will see emerge quickly by real estate agents.
Tempting right?
Am I alone in thinking that this image or a variation will be par for the course on thousands of Realtors personal profiles?
Here is my big question for us all to think about and tackle head on in an effort to raise the bar.
Does that image violate the terms of service on Facebook?
If it does, will it stop it from happening?
Would you tell another Realtor you were friends with to change it and is there even an obligation to do so?
Is it actually a smart marketing tactic to employ?
I think there are a million questions around the impact of the Facebook Timeline that need to be addressed from design to marketing impact to legalities.
I welcome your opinion below.
Note: I am participating in a free live webinar tomorrow to discuss this and a lot more.
