To nobody’s surprise, Trulia today unveiled sponsored (read paid) listings on the results page of its real estate search engine. Brokers and agents can now pay to have their listings “more prominently displayed” – but what exactly this entails isn’t entirely obvious. Looking at the sceen capture Dan put on their blog I’m not sure I’d want my listings identified quite so blatantly as being ‘Sponsored’ – as a consumer, this is a natural turn off and I would probably unconsciously try to avoid them and opt for the organically returned search results instead.
Looks like Trulia may have some more work cut out for them.
