Storytelling. Now there’s an app for that.
Ptch, a new app from Dreamworks — yes, that Dreamworks — takes photos and videos from your iPhone and quickly stitches them into a poignant “film.”
Here is a Ptch I created of a trip to the park with my kids last winter. I tear up every time I watch it.
Here is another I made last night of Sandy’s recent impact on my area.
Both took less than three minutes to build and publish.
A standout feature of Ptch is that the photos and videos you are already taking with your iPhone, plus the ones you are sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, Viddy or Instagram, are usable when building a Ptch. I had no intention of making a movie when I went to the park on that winter day with my children or while I surveyed the aftermath of the storm.
What I love most about Ptch is they made it so simple to use. You can sequence your video, add captions and select from a solid list of music using an intuitive drag and drop interface.
Once you are happy with the clip you can share it on Facebook and Twitter or send it to one person by email or text message.
Kendyl Young has already been using Ptch in a variety ways as a Realtor. I especially loved this Ptch of a couple moving into their first home and toasting the occasion.
It’s storytelling. It’s mobile. It’s social. It’s video. It’s Dreamworks.
I’m sold.
You can download Ptch for free from iTunes now.
