The latest version of DocuSign’s electronic signature management platform offers the ability to markup documents during negotiations, and also includes "designed for mobile" functionality for Apple’s iPhone and iPad and Android mobile devices, the company said today.
DocuSign for iPhone and iPad allows users to access documents from Google Docs, Box.net, and other cloud-based services. Apple iPhone users can digitize paper documents by snapping pictures of them with their phone, allowing them to add "sign here" tabs and collect electronic signatures from their clients.
"E-mail to signature" capabilities allow users to forward documents they receive as e-mail attachments to an e-mail address for conversion into DocuSign "electronic envelopes" that can be signed from anywhere in the world.
The updated DocuSign platform also offers new "Collaborate to Close" markup capabilities, allowing users to white out and initial changes to documents in the digital realm, eliminating legibility and degradation issues associated with handwritten edits, photocopies, and faxes.
The collaboration services package also includes "Agent Role," capabilities, allowing agents to receive agreements and manage transactions for their clients, reviewing contracts, assigning recipients, and adding additional documents or signatures.
Through a partnership with Box.net, users can "collaborate in the cloud," with the option of employing "biometric phone authentication" that validates the signer’s identity with a phone call to the signer who’s "voiceprint" is recorded.
The Collaboration to Close services will be offered at no charge to DocuSign Standard and Enterprise plan subscribers until Oct. 1, when standard plan subscribers who want to continue using the services must upgrade.
