Bob Hale has been president and CEO of the Houston Association of Realtors since 1988. In that quarter-century, he has grown HAR to more than 24,000 members, making it the largest trade group in Houston and the second-largest local Realtor association in the country. Under Hale’s leadership, in 1997 HAR became a pioneer in developing a public multiple listing service website, HAR.com, which is now a household name in the Houston area and regularly beats out major national listing portals in terms of local traffic. In 2013, HAR outsourced its listing syndication services to Move Inc. subsidiary ListHub; struck a deal real estate startup NuOffer to make its paperless offer tool available to HAR members; and partnered with the city of Houston on a mobile app that provides location-based information about real estate, city government, and local amenities and events. In October, the city’s mayor declared Houston’s second Bob Hale Day in recognition of Hale’s devotion to bettering the real estate industry for both the consumer and Realtor.
