Pulse is a recurring column where we ask for readers’ takes on varying topics in a weekly survey and report back with our findings.
It’s fall — a favorite season for everyone looking forward to pumpkin-spice everything and a perfectly cooked golden-skinned bird (of course, there’s family time and so much more in between).
Inman contributor and broker Troy Palmquist thinks pies are the way to go when it comes to expressing gratitude and showing clients your appreciation. (Read his story here.) This mega team, however, is going a different route by forgoing the humble dessert and giving back to the community in a different way. (Read the opposing view on pies here).
Last week, we asked readers, when it comes to your business, how are you making the most of Thanksgiving? From sing-alongs to pie giveaways, here’s what they had to say:
- I’m hosting several holiday sing-alongs via Zoom for clients, other brokers, friends and family as a way to consistently connect with both my work and personal relationships this season. Back by popular demand again this year, the first sing-along will take place the Friday after Thanksgiving at 8 p.m. EST, and it will also be live on my Facebook page for all to watch and join in on the festive cheer. Thousands of people either watched or joined live from CEOs to top brokers last year, and we plan to turn up the volume this year! — Stan Ponte, Senior Global Real Estate Advisor and Associate Broker, Sotheby’s International Realty – East Side Manhattan Brokerage

- Yes, we’ve had great response to the pie giveaway — doing it this year for the first time!
- We have a pie party that is a drive-through pie pick-up at our office. We have almost 300 pies to give away next Tuesday!
- Let’s Taco bout Thanksgiving meet up for SOI. We had drinks and tacos while we visited. Also I did a drawing for a gift card and a survey on home happiness.
- I am sending out Thanksgiving cards (like Christmas cards) with personal messages.
- I am delivering yummy apple spice soy candles by a local maker to each client w: card of appreciation.
- I guess it’s marketing indirectly but I’m hosting a huge food drive in my neighborhood for a local food bank. #GiveWhereYouLive
