Curious about the current landscape of the MLS?
The vast majority of agents and listings reside within a small fraction of the MLS organizations in the United States; 150 of the 600 MLSs in existence today have 90 percent of the agent population within their ranks.
Half of the agents are in just 20 MLSs. Nine out of 10 listings can be found in fewer than half of all MLSs: 250 organizations.
The Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS) did a survey, as well as one-on-one interviews, with managing brokers of Keller Williams, LeadingRE and Realty Alliance.
Of the 132 responses, 91 percent found the MLS to be valuable or very valuable to creating a healthy real estate market, and 70 percent were pleased or extremely pleased with their MLS.
So where’s the gap, and what does it take to bridge that gap? Listen in as moderator Denee Evans, CMLS, and Sam DeBord, Coldwell Banker Danforth, explain the disconnect between brokers and the MLS onstage at Inman Connect New York.
