Mere hours after eating turkey with family on Thanksgiving, shoppers nationwide will flock to stores and websites for the biggest sales days of the year in the U.S., Black Friday, followed a few days later by Cyber Monday. All weekend long and even for a few days before, retailers are slashing prices, and that means Realtors and agents too can score great deals on new products for their businesses.
Be it office staples like iPads or home furnishings for open houses, there’s no shortage of products that might appeal to discerning agents and real estate professionals. But where does one even begin to sort through them all? To that end, Inman has compiled a list of the best sales for real estate agents, whether you’re just starting out in the industry or a seasoned pro with a taste for the extravagant. Here, below, the best deals for various kinds of agents.
For the early adopter
New Apple iPad
Apple’s latest iPad (6th generation) offers high-powered computing, a sharper screen, and Touch ID security, all packed into a thinner and lighter profile than ever. It also supports on-screen writing with the Apple Pencil (and other styluses) and group FaceTime. Snag one for $80 off at Walmart (sale price $249).
DJI drones
DJI drones are certainly not a toy — many agents use them to take stellar bird’s-eye photographs of properties they’re selling. This year, the company has begun its Black Friday discounts early. Get the starter Mavic Air drone for $699 instead of $799 until the end of the week.
Amazon Echo Dot, Echo Show and the Blink Indoor Camera System
As buyers increasingly look to equip their homes with virtual voice assistants and other smart devices, it might be a good idea to familiarize yourself on how they work in your own home. Score some deals on the Echo Dot for $20 ($20 off), Echo Show for $340 ($120 off) or Blink Indoor Camera System for $67 ($33 off). Amazon will be slashing the prices of all of its smart home products in the days leading up to Black Friday and, of course, on the day itself.
Facebook Oculus Go Virtual Reality
In 2018, numerous real estate companies are experimenting with virtual reality but, sadly, most agents are still woefully unsure about what it is or how it works. In reality, it’s both fun and useful for the real estate career (think virtual reality house tours). Start learning about it with the entry-level Oculus Go Virtual Reality Headset, currently going for $199.99 on Amazon.
Philips Hue Smart Light starter kit
To turn every last room in your home into a smart tech hub, try out the Philips Hue Smart Light starter kit — the light bulbs sync with your Amazon Alexa device and turn off or on at the sound of your voice. Impress your visitors by saying “lights” as soon as you walk into an open house and seeing them turn on. Various bulbs and lighting kits are all going on sale throughout Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
For the luxury agent
Smart photo frames
Meural’s smart photo frame is great for agents with a taste for the artistic. You hang it up and watch a display of images (whether ones you upload or the company’s collection of some of the world’s most famous paintings in digital) displayed on its screen in high resolution. If you touch it, you also get a brief history of the artwork currently on display. While the frame normally costs $595, you can get it for $50 less on Black Friday, November 23.
Fountain pens
Signing a contract on a multimillion-dollar house is more fun with a customized, luxury fountain pen. While the recognizable Montblanc isn’t running any Black Friday discounts yet, online retailer the Pen Chalet has already dropped prices on some of its fountain pens by 50 percent. See all the deals at its website.
Bang & Olufsen headphones
Audio junkies know that Bang & Olufsen is a step up in quality from the typical Beats and other popular headphone brands. These Beoplay H4 Wireless Headphones aren’t noise canceling, sadly, but at $238.45, they are 20 percent off on Amazon.
Moon table lamp
For those agents or their clients who shoot for the moon, this Moon Table Lamp from the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) design store is worth a look. It’s a complete replica of Earth’s natural satellite, including all of its craters and ridges, at 1:20 scale, and the LED ring revolves gently around it, illuminating all sides. A conversation piece if there ever was one, now down to $729.95 from $1,120.
For the cautious agent
Ring doorbell
We would be amiss if we didn’t mention the Ring doorbell for the safety-conscious agent. A competitor with Blink and Nest, Ring offers doorbells that sync with one’s phone and offer video footage of visitors to the door. While good year-round, the deal is about to get a lot sweeter on Black Friday — Best Buy is selling the Ring Video Doorbell 2 with a free third-gen Echo Dot smart speaker for only $140.
August Smart Lock Pro
Perfect for open homes, the August Smart Lock allows you to see who’s at the door from your phone, whether you’re inside or away on holiday. For Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the third-generation lock will be down from $150 to $120 while the August Smart Lock Pro will be down to $179 from $229.
1Password for iPhone
Agents will often have to use many different apps and applications — but remembering all these passwords can be at once time-consuming and risky when it comes to cyber-security. This Black Friday, the 1Password for iPhone app will be on sale for $7.99 (instead of $9.99). Through it, you’ll have a master app that keeps track of all the passwords on your computer, iPad and phone.
Blink Indoor 1-Cam system
After buying smart home camera startup Blink last year, Amazon is offering discounts on its security starter kits for those who want their property monitored at all times. This Black Friday could be the chance for agents to experiment with smart security systems in their own homes — try the Blink Indoor 1-Cam System for $67 ($33 off) or the Blink Indoor 2-Cam System for $114 ($56 off).
Nest cameras, doorbell, and thermostats
Nest, the smart home device subsidiary of Google, was formerly an independent company founded by ex-Apple iPod designer Tony Fadell. The fusion of Apple and Google design sensibilities is evident in its many smart home products, which combine beautifully simplistic design with machine intelligence and server-side smarts to deliver high-quality experiences for controlling and monitoring your abode.
This week from November 21 through 28, Nest is offering discounts on a variety of products on the Google Store, Target, Best Buy, Lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart, including on the Nest Learning Thermostat ($70 off, so you pay $179), Nest Thermostat E ($30 off to $139), Nest Hello smart doorbell ($50 off at $179), Nest Protect smoke alarm ($20 off for $99), Nest Cam Indoor ($70 off at $129) and Nest Cam Outdoor ($50 off at $149).
For the first-year agent
Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee Machine
During your first year in real estate, you’ll also likely be drinking a lot of coffee. On Black Friday, score a deal on the Nespresso VertuoPlus Machine on Amazon. Through Cyber Monday, it will sell for $129.96 instead of $199.95.
All Apps individual plan
As a first-time agent, you’re going to spend a lot of time going through documents and PDFs on Adobe. On Black Friday, a year-long subscription to the All Apps individual plan will be slashed to $480 from $600.
Moleskine notebooks
Throughout Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Moleskine’s uber-stylish notebooks will be available at 40% off at Barnes & Noble. This is a great gift for someone who is just starting out in the business and needs a place to keep track of all those meetings, clients and open homes.
Hard drive space
Better stock up on extra hard drive space now — real estate agents will go through a lot of papers and documents. Samsung’s most popular solid state drive with 1 tetrabyte of data will be on sale for $130 on Black Friday.
Essential real estate classics
For starters, stock up on the essentials. Books like the “The Honest Real Estate Agent” and “Agent Entrepreneurs: Every Agent’s Guide to What They Don’t Teach You in Real Estate School” can set you on track as you learn the basis of this profession. Read up on everything from open houses to luxury clients to dealing with brokers. No deals available on these books per se, but a worthy investment nonetheless.
For the ultra-organized agent
PDF Expert
Most Realtors have had to edit or sign contracts over an iPad — while always cumbersome, the task becomes infinitely easier when there’s an app designed for making these modifications. From Black Friday to Cyber Monday, PDF Expert for Mac will be available for a 40 percent discount (down from $79.99 down to $49.99) and PDF Expert for iPhone and iPad will be available in part of a Black Friday four-app bundle for $16.99, a 50 percent reduction from the bundle’s normal cost.
The iRobot Roomba
A iRobot Roomba 677 Wi-Fi Robot Vacuum can be useful in those cases when you’re ready to show but the house is messy — it moves around by itself and automatically finds the charging docket when it’s low on batteries. This year, Kohl’s will be selling them for $212.49 instead of $449.99.
ReaddleDocs
If you happen to read a lot of title and company documents on your iPad (and, if you’re a real estate agent, chances are you do), the ReaddleDocs and ReaddleDocs for iPad (currently 50% off throughout the week) may be just the app for you.
