Facebook Marketplace will now let consumers book home servicepeople directly from the website or app, through new partnerships with home service providers HomeAdvisor, Handy and Porch.
Facebook users in need of home services like roofing, cleaning, plumbing, maintenance help and bathroom redesigns can go to Facebook’s marketplace platform and see options for local professionals screened by one of the three platforms.
“More people ask for recommendations related to home services on Facebook in the U.S. than any other topic. Since the beginning of the year, millions of people have asked their friends for suggestions related to home services, such as house cleaners, plumbers and contractors,” Facebook vice president of Marketplace Deb Liu wrote in a blog post announcing the news.
The feature in the Marketplace section of the Facebook app will allow consumers to view ratings, reviews, credentials and location for service providers; send requests for quotes to multiple professionals at once; and then communicate with those home service professionals through Facebook Messenger.
These features appeared for some Facebook users today, but will be available to all U.S. Facebook users in the coming weeks, Liu said in Facebook’s blog post.
HomeAdvisor and Porch connect consumers with professionals across contracting services, while Handy is more focused on cleaning and maintenance services.
“Facebook Marketplace helps businesses reach consumers on a platform they are already turning to for everyday needs, making it easier than ever for service professionals in our network to reach new customers and for consumers to seamlessly hire one of our trusted service professionals for hundreds of tasks, from plumbing and cleaning to home renovations,” Chris Terrill, CEO of HomeAdvisor owner ANGI Homeservices, said in a statement.
