This time of year, it’s normal to experience emotional, economic and even personal financial “headwinds.”
Handling one problem shouldn’t be dragging you down, but when it’s more than one problem, real estate agents often get overwhelmed and just plain stop working.
The result? They lose all momentum.
Imagine that you’re a pilot (don’t worry; you’re still an agent), and you’re getting ready to take off on a trip in your airplane (your real estate business). There are three stages: the boarding phase, the take-off phase and then cruising altitude.
Before you even attempt the leave the runway, you need to gas up, right?
Momentum is the jet fuel of your business. If you’re running low or on empty, chances are you’re not going anywhere.
If you want to stop the struggle, you have to recognize which phase you’re in and the steps needed to soar.
The first phase is the boarding phase. This is fun. It’s all about planning and the possibilities for success.
At this point there are no “headwinds,” but be warned: you can’t stay here for too long!
The second phase is the take-off phase. Keep in mind that the most fuel (momentum) is needed as the plane is leaving the runway, and it’s the same in your business.
You wouldn’t like it if the pilot suddenly slowed down as the plane is barreling toward the end of the runway rather than going up, would you? That’s why slowing down is the worst thing you could do!
This is the tough part that no one likes to talk about. It’s the place where you face the greatest challenges and must embrace our philosophy of “doing what you don’t want to do when you don’t want to do it.”
If you can manage that, then the final phase is cruising altitude. It’s the destination every agent dreams of, but few ever get to. It’s where you stop resisting the tough stuff, and you know exactly what you need to get things done!
In fact, you crave the action because you know that not taking action is in itself an action and one that your dreams and plans are too big for.
Listen to the podcast today to help assess where you are, what needs to be done to get you to cruising altitude and how you can avoid going back to the gate over and over again.
