Aiming to help homebuyers better screen neighborhoods, not just property listings, realtor.com has sprinkled the listing portal with new community information, including Yelp data on amenities.
Users can use a new module on listing pages to pull up nearby amenities, including coffee shops, restaurants, gas stations, insurance providers, drug stores and grocery stories.
Like a similar tool that appears on Trulia, the module is powered by Yelp. It shows Yelp ratings for establishments and links to their Yelp pages.
“Buyers now know exactly how close the nearest grocery store or coffee shop is to a potential new home before they even attend a showing,” said Ryan O’Hara, the CEO of realtor.com operator Move, in a statement.
To help users further drill down on neighborhoods, realtor.com has introduced new community profile pages for more than 20,000 different cities. They feature local market and school information, including the median listing price, price per square foot and median sales price.
The data rollout exemplifies a growing focus in the real estate search space on lifestyle-based search tools. Trulia’s “quiet streets” maps and Hoodline’s “Neighborhood Kits” also reflect this trend.
