3 ways to ‘romance’ the best team for your business

aI often use the dating metaphor when it comes to real estate transactions. But there might be no better example of true love and commitment than putting together a stellar team of agents, support staff and service providers to help you, whether you’re just teaming up with other agents or you own your own real estate company.

Especially when starting out, many of us do everything for our businesses including prospecting for clients, taking out the trash, managing showings, writing up documents and managing closings.

But what if you want more out of your real estate business? What if you want to focus on your unique strengths while others handle other areas of the business for you?

If you ever want to scale your business, it’s time to start looking for “the right ones” you can depend on. When you find your real estate team, “put a ring on it,” and keep them by your side.

3 tips for finding the one in real estate

1. Know your strengths

Start out by knowing your strengths. Are you an expert in a certain geographic area but keep getting requests for other neighborhoods and cities?

Most likely, you don’t have the time to run all over creation and work effectively. Find agents like yourself who are experts in other nearby neighborhoods and areas and team up.

Maybe you’re fantastic at signing up new listings and your time would be better spent prospecting for sellers than working with buyers.

Time is money. Be efficient and focus on the tasks that yield you the largest return, and have other people handle areas that are time-consuming for you.

2. Figure out if it’s a match

Personalities are important as you grow your team of agents and service providers for your company. When you add anyone to your team who will ultimately represent you, it’s important to know he or she will treat clients the same way you would.

Just like in a marriage, your partner is an extension of you. Whether it’s your assistant, another agent or even an attorney or title company that you recommend, he or she should share a similar work ethic and level of customer service, so clients are happy and taken care of.

3. Make your partners offers they can’t refuse

When you find the right people to work with, you have to treat them right. Make sure you are taking care of anyone who works on behalf of your company.

That could mean a lucrative payment structure that encourages them to make more sales. Or maybe they are looking for flex time to take care of family needs. Give them whatever it is they are most looking for, and keep them on you team.

Use these tips to find people who fit well on your real estate team, and when you do, put the proverbial ring on it.
