The long-running TV show M.A.S.H. has never ended for many.
And, if you’ve ever been to a M.A.S.H. Bash, you’d know why.
For the uninitiated, M.A.S.H. stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, and was the basis for a movie, and then a TV show of the same name. The TV show starred Alan Alda, and ran from 1972 to 1983. It’s last episode was one of the most-watched TV shows for many years.
But M.A.S.H. Bashes, originally held to say farewell when the last episode of the TV show aired, have never passed into history. Especially in Florida.
At Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate (BHGRE) Florida 1st, agents in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area have never given up on the M.A.S.H. Bash. This past November, for their annual M.A.S.H. Bash, Florida 1st teamed up with Rebuilding Together Broward County to raise money to help improve the lives of Broward County veterans.
As a result of the fundraising effort, local veterans in need can get access to help with home repairs, safety improvements and energy retrofits.
Rebuilding Together has affiliates across the country. The BHGRE Florida 1st event is just one example of many creative fundraising efforts that support the organization.
Nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects nationwide annually. In 2014, the organization was responsible for nearly $73 million in home improvements to more than 17,000 homeowners and residents across the country.
And, BHGRE will remain strongly committed to that ongoing effort, with the recent election of Sherry Chris as chair of the Rebuilding Together’s 14-member national board of directors. Chris is President and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.
Chris has more than 30 years of real estate experience in sales, marketing, new technologies and franchise management. She led the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate brand launch in 2008.
Under her leadership it has become an international lifestyle real estate brand that offers a full range of services to brokers, affiliated sales associates and home buyers and sellers across the United States and Canada.
“Rebuilding Together helps preserve the American dream of homeownership for low-income homeowners in need of a safe and healthy home, and in the process ensures that communities and neighborhoods remain vibrant,” Chris said, in a statement.
“Over the coming years, Rebuilding Together will be focusing on expanding services, voice and reach to meet dramatically growing needs nationwide.”
Rebuilding Together is a national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing their communities. The organization has more than 40 years of experience in advancing that cause.
