Apartment List decided to find out. The company considered the median price of a two-bedroom apartment and the average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner, assuming that a Thanksgiving dinner costs $50.70 for turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pie.
Then, using the grocery component of a cost-of-living index, Apartment List adjusted the dinner prices for each city.
Here were the overall results — it costs 78 turkey dinners to rent in San Francisco, 57.5 in Washington, D.C., 31 in Denver and 13 in Detroit.
