1. They don’t feel sorry for themselves
Successful agents take responsibility for their role in this business and understand that real estate isn’t always easy or fair.
2. They don’t waste energy on things they can’t control
Successful agents don’t complain over lost transactions or bumps in the road. Instead, they focus on what they can control in their lives and their transaction. They recognize that sometimes the only thing they can control is their attitude.
3. They don’t shy away from change
Successful agents don’t try to avoid change. Instead, they welcome it and are willing to be flexible. They understand that change is inevitable, and they believe in their abilities to adapt and, therefore, the customer does too.
4. They don’t worry about pleasing everyone
Successful agents recognize that they don’t need to please everyone all the time. They’re not afraid to say no or speak up when necessary while at the same time being kind and fair.
5. They don’t fear taking calculated risks
Successful agents don’t make reckless or foolish risks; they spend time weighing the risks and benefits for their clients before making a big decision together. And they fully inform their clients of the potential downsides before they take action.
6. They don’t dwell on the past
Successful agents don’t waste time wishing things could be different. They acknowledge their past transaction history and can say what they’ve learned from it.
However, they don’t constantly relive a bad experience or fantasize about the glory days. Instead, they live for the present and plan for the future.
7. They don’t make the same mistakes over and over
Successful agents accept responsibility for their behavior and learn from their past mistakes, move on and make better decisions in the future.
8. They don’t resent other agents’ successes
Successful agents appreciate and celebrate other people’s success in life. They don’t get jealous or feel cheated when others surpass them. Instead, they recognize that success comes with hard work, and they are willing to work hard for their success.
9. They don’t give up after the first failure
Successful agents view failure as an opportunity to grow and improve. They are willing to keep trying until they get it right.
10. They don’t expect immediate results
Successful agents apply their skills and time to the best of their ability and understand that real change takes time. Whether it is getting their business off the ground or improving their health, consistent and steady always brings results.
11. They don’t feel the world owes them something
Successful agents don’t start this business with a mentality that others will take care of them and provide nonstop leads. They don’t have a sense of entitlement.
Instead, successful agents look for opportunities around every corner. They understand that they are self-employed, and they get business based on their own merits.
