Zillow signed up 25 multiple listing services in February to provide listings directly to the site, as the nation’s most popular home search portal continues to prepare for next month’s expiration of its agreement with listing syndication platform ListHub.

Industry demand for direct relationships with Zillow “has been incredible and is picking up,” said Curt Beardsley, Zillow vice president of industry development, in a statement.

“We have seen a tremendous response from MLS and industry leaders who want to ensure their listings are on Zillow in a timely and accurate fashion, and know a direct feed is the best way to guarantee it,” he said.

The 25 MLSs announced today are:

  • Big Water MLS in Big Water, Utah
  • Duck Creek MLS in Duck Creek, Utah

Other MLSs recently signing on to provide direct feeds to Zillow include Georgia MLS and Northeast Florida MLS. Metropolitan Regional Information Systems Inc. is on the brink signing a direct-feed deal with Zillow.

ListHub, a subsidiary of realtor.com operator Move Inc. which aggregates and distributes listing data, will stop sending listings to Zillow on April 7, when the agreement governing the terms of how they are provided expires.

Zillow announced in January that it had been unable to come to terms with Move’s parent company, News Corp., over renewing the agreement. Attorneys for Zillow subsidiary Trulia, which could also lose its ListHub feed, said Zillow chose not to renew the agreement with ListHub “when it became apparent that ListHub was demanding anticompetitive and onerous terms aimed at securing an unfair advantage for Move at Zillow’s expense.”

Attorneys for Move claim that Zillow “effectively declared war on Move” before acquiring Trulia, accusing the company of using trade secrets stolen from Move to develop its newly launched listing platform, the Zillow Data Dashboard, which Zillow is using to keep listings flowing directly from MLSs and brokerages.

Editor’s note: This story has been corrected to note that MRIS is on the brink of signing a direct-feed agreement with Zillow. A previous version of this story said MRIS had signed an agreement with Zillow.
