Zillow will kick off its “Housing Roadmap to 2016” conversation series Wednesday by hosting a talk with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.
Zillow Chief Economist Stan Humphries will conduct the “fireside chat” with Castro at 9:15 a.m. Eastern time, with questions coming from a live audience and via Twitter under the hashtag “#HousinginAmerica.” The event will be live-streamed online.

In addition to touching on subjects like responsible homeownership and exploring the rent-vs-buy dilemma, Castro will discuss the Obama administration’s latest housing initiatives during the chat, which takes place the morning after President Obama’s State of the Union Address.
The Housing Roadmap series is Zillow’s latest successful attempt to establish itself as the voice of residential real estate in the U.S.
In August 2013, Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff hosted a one-on-one housing discussion with President Obama that was also live-streamed. That event prompted some to ask why the White House hadn’t turned to the National Association of Realtors to lay out its housing policies.
Zillow’s “Housing Roadmap” series will travel to around the country in the runup to the 2016 U.S. presidential election, exploring housing issues consumers face at the local level and how they affect the nation as a whole.
