Realtor.com’s head of mobile, Duke Fan, has joined the collaborative home search platform RealScout as vice president of product.
Fan, who spent the last two years at realtor.com operator Move Inc. as vice president for mobile product, led a team that brought out realtor.com’s iOS and Android consumer apps and its rental and mortgage apps. He was also responsible for the firm’s mobile Web experience.
Before joining Move for a three-year stint as vice president of Move solutions and platforms in 2008, Fan worked as a director of product management at Yahoo for eight years. His resume also includes stints at Netflix and a stealth startup, Grokker, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Launched last summer, RealScout allows agents to leverage the startup’s streamlined, Internet Data Exchange-powered home search experience for their leads and clients while remaining top of mind with the consumer with their branding and contact info on all RealScout pages.

Agents pay a monthly subscription for the RealScout service, which now is available in eight multiple listing service markets in Northern California and Washington.
The hire brings the fast-growing startup’s employee count to 35, RealScout’s CEO Andrew Flachner told Inman News. The firm closed a $1.1 million seed funding round last summer with participation from venture capital funds DCM and Formation 8 and angel investor Ken DeLeon.
Fan will help the firm double down on its mobile offerings, Flachner said. It has an iOS mobile app now, but part of Fan’s role will be to revamp and refine it before work begins toward an Android app, he said.
Fan will also guide development on the customer relationship management portion of the firm’s platform and help build out additional features that facilitate collaboration between agents and consumers, Flachner said.
In March, both former Chief Strategy Officer and realtor.com President Errol Samuelson and former Vice President of Industry Development Curt Beardsley left Move for Zillow. Move’s former chief product officer, Scott Boecker, left the firm in February, and former realtor.com Vice President of Marketing David Roth left sometime this summer.
In May and June, Move filled some holes left by those departures by promoting from within and tapping talent from outside the firm.
“I wasn’t looking to leave realtor.com,” Fan told Inman News. However, the excitement of RealScout’s startup environment and the prospect of building something from the ground up again gave him “that bug.”
RealScout announced in March that it was bringing former LoopNet Director of Sales Mary Sarslow on board as senior director of sales.
