Realtor.com today announced new apps for the Windows 8 operating system that allow users to take advantage of the operating system’s design and and functionality when searching for listings on tablets, smartphones and personal computers.
The Windows 8 smartphone app is now available for free download from the Windows Phone Store, while the Windows tablet and personal computer apps are available for free download from the Windows Store.
New features include a “hub” start page, photo-card view, the ability to pin listings to the start screen, and a calendar.
Users can search for homes near a Global Positioning System (GPS) location, and use search criteria including open houses, price and the number of bedrooms, recently sold homes, and MLS number. Property photos can be swiped or selected.
Listing details displayed include property tax, sales history, and school information. Listings and searches be saved and shared via email.
After realtor.com launched its first mobile application in January 2010, it saw the number of listings viewed on mobile devices surpass desktop traffic in January 2013. In March, mobile devices accounted for close to 60 percent of listings viewed.
