Realtor.com operator Move Inc. has named Barbara O’Connor — a former Yahoo executive who joined the company last year — chief marketing officer.
O’Connor will continue to oversee Move’s marketing efforts, including realtor.com’s aggressive “Find It First” brand campaign, which portrays the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of the site’s listings as giving its users a competitive advantage over buyers searching for homes on purportedly less reliable third-party websites.
The campaign is one of several initiatives in recent months aimed at clawing back market share that realtor.com has lost to competitors Zillow and Trulia.
Along with leading marketing initiatives, Move said O’Connor will supervise Move’s business-to-consumer and business-to-business marketing communication teams for its brands and websites.
“Since joining our team in 2012, Barbara has been truly instrumental in strategically creating and executing our marketing efforts at Move, especially with the ‘Find It First’ campaign,” said Steve Berkowitz, chief executive officer of Move, in a statement. “Barbara has built an A-list team of marketing professionals, many of whom have followed her from her previous roles at top-tier brands. We are lucky to have someone of Barbara’s caliber at Move.”
A 25-year marketing veteran, O’Connor spent more than 10 years at Yahoo, most recently as vice president of global consumer marketing.
Before coming to Yahoo, O’Connor helped launch Kontiki Inc., developing marketing initiatives to drive awareness of the company’s software-based content delivery network. She’s also led marketing efforts at companies including Netscape Communications Corporation, OnLive! Technologies, and Apple.
