Sherry Chris joins Rebuilding Together

Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate LLC CEO Sherry Chris has been named to the national board of directors for the low-income housing repair and upgrade nonprofit organization Rebuilding Together.

With 200 affiliate chapters in cities across the U.S., Washington, D.C.-based Rebuilding Together has been helping lower-income homeowners and community centers connect with skilled volunteers who help with repairs and energy-efficient upgrades at no cost to the recipients since 1988.

Rebuilding Together says it’s coordinated work on more than 100,000 homes across the nation with the help of 3.4 million volunteers.

The "vast knowledge" Chris has acquired throughout her career has given her "great insight into working with a network-driven organization, which will serve as a great advantage to our mission," said Brad Segal, chairman of Rebuilding Together, in a statement.

"It is an honor to serve in a leadership position at Rebuilding Together," Chris said. "Homeownership is such an important part of the American dream, and I am eager to be a part of an organization that provides vital services to homeowners who need them most."

Chris recently participated in a Rebuilding Together initiative organized by the Meredith Corp., publisher of Better Homes and Gardens magazine and owner of the Better Homes and Gardens brand.

Realogy Corp. entered into a 50-year licensing deal in 2007 to use the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate name.

Chris has served as CEO since the brand’s launch. Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate now has 8,350 agents in 258 offices in Canada and, after entering Kansas in December, 26 U.S. states.

Sherry Chris will moderate a panel at Real Estate Connect New York, which runs Jan. 16-18 at the Grand Hyatt New York.
