During the second quarter, 9 percent of U.S. iPhone users used real estate property search apps, according to an analysis by Onavo Mobile Ltd.
Apps offered by Zillow, Realtor.com, Craigslist and Trulia were the most popular among users of devices running on Apple’s iOS operating system, Onavo said.
The company touts its "Onavo Insights" reports as superior to other analytics because they are based on actual data usage, rather than app store scraping or software development kits (SDKs).
Onavo said users of Trulia’s iOS app were the "most engaged" on social media sites, followed by Craigslist Free and NY Times Real Estate. "Most engaged" means those apps had the highest percentage of users who actively use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Foursquare.
Coldwell Banker’s app, which provides open house notifications, was ranked tops by Onavo for weekend engagement. Weekend engagement measures the apps that have highest percentage of active users during the weekend.
The Re/Max Real Estate Search app, which generate turn-by-turn driving directions to properties that interest users, was ranked second for weekend engagement, followed by ZipRealty’s iPhone app, which uses "StreetScan" augmented reality to find nearby homes for sale.
