Lisle, Ill.-based multiple listing service Midwest Real Estate Data LLC (MRED) is now offering its nearly 40,000 members access to an application that allows consumers to search for homes on agent and broker Facebook pages.
The app was released in July by Los Angeles-area software company AppLa.Bz (pronounced "App Labs") and was first offered to the roughly 5,000 members of Information and Real Estate Services (IRES), a Northern Colorado multiple listing service.
Like IRES members, MRED members can sign up to use the app for $5.99 a month. Those who sign up on MRED’s Facebook page before Oct. 1 will get the first month for free.
The MRED Social IDX app takes agents’ MLS-approved Internet Data Exchange feeds and integrates them into their Facebook pages in a map-based search format. The app also allows agents to chat with clients about specific listings in real time. Through a "Friend Feedback" feature, clients can also share listings with their family and friends on Facebook.
MRED CEO Russ Bergeron said in a statement that the MRED Social IDX Facebook app is "ahead of the curve" and "just might become the breakthrough product of the year."
For now, only for-sale home listings are available on the app; rentals will be added soon, MRED said on its Facebook page.
