Calling all real estate hackers and startups

Inman News is seeking entries for a "new kids on the block" competition for startups at its 14th annual Real Estate Connect conference in San Francisco.

Six young companies will get to pitch their business plans to a panel of professional investors and more than 1,000 real estate leaders in attendance. One winner will be selected by the panel, and another will be selected by conference attendees.

Insider’s Guide to Real Estate Connect

At the startup competition at January’s Real Estate Connect in New York City, NabeWise, iPromote and Cloud CMA won thousands of dollars’ worth of advertising on the Inman News site.

Companies interested in competing in San Francisco should send an e-mail to Madelyn@inman.com. Preference will be given to startups launching at the conference.

Inman News is also seeking participants for this year’s Connect Create developer challenge. In an intense "hack-a-thon," individuals or teams will get 48 hours to develop a Web application that they will then present to conference attendees and a panel of judges. As with the startup competition, each group will choose a winner.

Web developers who would like to participate should e-mail Madelyn@inman.com. The deadline for entries is June 11.

The conference will run July 13-15, 2010, at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
