Real estate marketing communications firm 1000Watt Consulting on Wednesday released an online guide to real estate technology companies.
The 1000Watt Index contains more than 350 links in 30 categories, including marketing tools, transaction management systems, mapping software, WordPress plugins, data and analytics companies, agent and broker Web sites, and mobile applications.
"The goal was simple, really: to begin to build and categorize as comprehensive a list as possible of all the real estate technology companies out there," 1000Watt’s Joel Burslem said in an e-mail.
The idea for the guide sprang from a similar resource, "The Real Estate Mind Map," that the company released in late 2007, but which quickly outgrew its design as more and more links were added. The guide is now organized by category, and links are added in list form as they come in; users can customize how they see each category by rearranging, collapsing or expanding each one.
The company plans to update the guide weekly, depending on how many companies readers submit to add. To be added, companies need to have an established presence in the real estate industry, or if they are a startup, "an interesting new twist or fresh take" on some form of real estate technology, Burslem said. Companies are added without charge and can be from anywhere in the world.
"It’s to help you find vendors, competitors, partners and/or just plain-old cool stuff … Think of it as a 30,000-foot view of all things geeky in real estate," Burslem said in a blog post about the guide’s release.
Burslem is a former vice president of content for Inman News and founder of the Future of Real Estate Marketing blog, which is a property of Inman News. 1000Watt hired Burslem in December.
