HomeGain starts ‘green’ campaign

Real estate marketing company HomeGain has launched a click-for-trees campaign and is also dispensing free "green" advice and reusable shopping bags as a part of its Earth Day-centered Green Real Estate Campaign.

The company has pledged, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, to pay for up to 1,000 trees to be planted in national forests — this campaign is based on a target number of online clicks received from site visitors, with visitors limited to one click per day.

The company’s green campaign Web site also features a webinar presentation by Realtor Jeffrey Bastress; a top 10 list of "eco-real estate tips for Realtors"; an audio interview with Marie Scheuring, a Realtor with an "EcoBroker" designation; and an area for submitting "Green Ideas."

According to the HomeGain announcement, the company practices "eco-friendliness" at its headquarters in Emeryville, Calif., by "maintaining an office environment free of disposable paper and plastic goods, and subsidizing HomeGain employee public transportation commuting costs," among other practices.
