"Gem."
Douglas Pankey of Nationwide Residential Lending Inc. photographed this property in San Jose, Calif. Jerry Feiger, owner of Phase Nine Investments LLC, is pictured beside the house.
Feiger said that the property "was actually bought at auction — (I) can’t understand why." The original home was built in the late 1800s and was split into three units. "There was a fire that wiped out the upstairs unit and the building was condemned. The sign that says ‘$1,000 fine for littering’ kind of says it all," Feiger said.
