Long-term mortgage interest rates drifted lower Tuesday, and the
benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield sank to 3.77 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average dipped to 5.71 percent, and the
15-year fixed rate sank to 5.3 percent. Meanwhile, the 1-year adjustable rate fell to 5.9 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield dropped to 4.53 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes
nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states.
Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 199.48 points, or 1.53 percent, finishing at 12,828.68.
The Nasdaq lost 23.83 points, or 0.95 percent, closing at 2,492.26.
