PropertyMaps.com, a property-search Web site formed by a network of independent real estate brokers, has added views of parcel boundaries for 80 million properties nationwide.
The site, which features multiple listing service-based for-sale property listings information shared by its broker network, now offers about 1.3 million listings, according to a company announcement this week, and expects to reach 2.2 million active for-sale listings by July.
PropertyMaps.com allows users to view properties on the Internet-based Google Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth interactive mapping platforms. The site also allows users to view properties using Google’s Street View tool, which features street-level imagery, and via the Google Earth software application.
Trulia.com, a real estate search site that features property listings information supplied directly by real estate brokers, also has incorporated Google’s Street View imagery into its search (see Inman News article).
Parcel boundaries were added to the site through a partnership with Digital Map Products. Some other online real estate, such as automated home valuation, marketing and search site Zillow.com, also map parcel boundaries.
The 17 brokerage company members of PropertyMaps.com are based in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Nevada and Texas. These brokers supply property data to the site from their companies and other brokerages through data-sharing agreements among MLS participants.
"Our goal is to offer authentic MLS searching from coast to coast," according to the PropertyMaps.com Web site.
In addition to the parcel boundaries — which the company plans to grow to encompass 100 million parcels — PropertyMaps.com also features community data such as population, employment, finance, crime and weather statistics, and it allows users to view the location of businesses and other amenities such as restaurants, schools and hospitals on an interactive map.
Users can search for properties by city or ZIP code, and can specify property type, price range, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and square footage, among other factors.
Searchable property types include single-family homes, condos and townhomes, multifamily structures, rental units, mobile homes and foreclosure properties. The foreclosure data is supplied by data company RealtyTrac.
