Long-term mortgage interest rates inched higher Wednesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield dipped to 4.25 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average rose to 5.94 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate grew to 5.53 percent. The 1-year adjustable, however, was down at 5.47 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield slipped to 4.6 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 76.08 points, or 0.57 percent, finishing at 13,231.01. The Nasdaq lost 29.33 points, or 1.1 percent, closing at 2,644.32.
