L.A.’s Murdoch Plaza sold

Murdock Plaza, a 17-story office building in the Westwood district of Los Angeles, recently sold to a local private investment group for an undisclosed price.

Opened in 1981 at the intersection of Wilshire and Westwood boulevards, the 228,540-square-foot building was built by David Murdock of Dole Foods, the original owner who still occupies offices in the building.

Wilshire Westwood Plaza LLC purchased the property from Sumitomo Life Realty Inc. of New York.

At the time of sale, the property housed several tenants, including the Regency Club; Eli Broad and The Broad Foundation; Castle & Cooke; Mapleton Investments; former Mayor Richard Riordan/The Riordan Foundation and Riordan, Lewis & Haden; Wachovia Securities; Spyglass Entertainment; Spencer Stuart, the large executive search firm; Radar Pictures; Union Bank; and Comerica Bank.
