Long-term mortgage interest rates were lower Wednesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield sank to 4.47 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average dropped to 6.1 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate slipped to 5.78 percent. The 1-year adjustable was down at 6.01 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield was down at 4.78 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 143.39 points, or 1.07 percent, finishing at 13,305.47. The Nasdaq lost 24.29 points, or 0.92 percent, closing at 2,605.95.
