Long-term mortgage interest rates were either flat or lower Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield dipped to 4.57 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average sank to 6.12 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate held at 5.79 percent. The 1-year adjustable, however, jumped to 5.99 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield was down to 4.86 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 56.74 points, or 0.42 percent, finishing at 13,322.13. The Nasdaq fell 15.44 points, or 0.6 percent, closing at 2,561.25.
