Multi-Regional MLS announces merger

A Southern California multiple listing service is adding 6,000 members through a merger with another MLS, according to a Friday announcement.

The Greater South Bay Regional MLS is merging with the 30,000-member Multi-Regional MLS, which is one of the top-10 largest MLSs in the country.

The merger, which is one of many MLS collaborative efforts planned across the country, is expected to be completed on Dec. 4.

Multi-Regional MLS is also a member of the California MLSAlliance, a data-sharing platform with participation by 10 MLSs that stretches from Northern California to Southern California.

That system supplies an estimated 145,000 agents and brokers in the state with information on active property listings and off-market properties, and extends an offer of compensation and cooperation to all authorized users.

The Greater South Bay Regional MLS is operated by the South Bay Association of Realtors, the Palos Verdes Association of Realtors and the Inglewood Board of Realtors.

Multi-Regional MLS serves nine local Realtor associations, including the Arcadia Association of Realtors, Montebello Board of Realtors, West San Gabriel Association of Realtors, East Valley Association of Realtors, Inland Valleys Association of Realtors, Corona Norco Association of Realtors, Tri-Counties Association of Realtors, Citrus Valley Association of Realtors and Southwest Riverside Association of Realtors.

After the merger, the combined MLS will serve a region that extends from the beach communities of the South Bay and Palos Verdes, and from Arcadia through the Inland Empire and to Temecula.

Multi-Regional MLS is in the process of hiring additional staff “to accommodate the heavier workload that will result with a surge of 6,000 new users,” according to the announcement. Staff from that MLS will offer training at the sites of the newly affiliated Realtor groups and at broker offices for groups of 20 or more users.
