Long-term mortgage interest rates were mostly flat Thursday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield dropped to 4.77 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average remained at 6.23 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate dipped to 5.9 percent. The 1-year adjustable climbed to 5.63 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield was down at 5.02 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 387.18 points, or 2.83 percent, finishing at 13,270.68. The Nasdaq tumbled 56.49 points, or 2.16 percent, closing at 2,556.49.
