Real estate bloggers share blog recipes

Most new blogs will fail, but with dedication and discipline the ones that succeed can open many doors for their creators, said participants in an Inman News podcast on real estate blogging.

The podcast, “Building from the Ground Up: Real Experiences Starting a Real Estate Blog from Scratch,” is available for free online. Follow this link and click on either the “Listen” or “Download” buttons in the middle of the screen.

The panel discussion, which took place Monday, June 11, featured four participants in the Project Blogger competition co-sponsored by Active Rain and Inman News. Twelve blogging coaches selected 12 apprentices to mentor and set on the path towards real estate blogging superstardom.

Speakers during Monday’s podcast included Jackie Colson-Miller, a blogging apprentice in the competition and blogger at Real Estate Sizzle; her coach Jim Cronin, who writes the Real Estate Tomato blog; Julie Ferenzi, also a blogging apprentice in the competition and blogger at Living in Plainfield; and her coach Jeff Turner, who blogs at ActiveRain.

Find out how each blogger built their blog from scratch and how they are using it in their daily business practices. Speakers also share Web site links and books they’ve referred to in creating their blogs, how to promote your blog and how to avoid burnout.

The winning Project Blogger team will be announced July 31 at the Bloggers Connect conference in San Francisco. Bloggers Connect is a two-day real estate blogging and networking event slated for July 31-Aug 1 at the Palace Hotel.
