Existing-home sales in North Carolina posted another month of double-digit gains in February, rising 17 percent from a year ago, the North Carolina Association of Realtors reported today.
According to statistics compiled by NCAR, 9,354 residential units were sold in February, up from 7,981 reported in February 2005. Sales have been growing at a rate of 10 percent or more since January 2005, the association reported.
The average existing-home sales price was up 1 percent to $195,093, compared with $192,963 posted a year ago.
More than 17,700 units have been sold on a year-to-date basis, an increase of 15 percent from year-to-date sales posted during the first two months of 2005. The average sales price increased 2 percent over the same time period to $200,626.
Mountain and coastal regions lead the state in positive growth with Brevard (90 percent), Goldsboro (40 percent) and Jacksonville (38 percent) posting the strongest year-to-date increase in total sales dollars. Brevard, Goldsboro and Greenville saw the largest year-to-date home-price appreciation at 29 percent, 15 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
With more than 36,000 members, the North Carolina Association of Realtors is one of the largest associations in the state.
