House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael Oxley, R-Ohio, who recently commissioned a study by the General Accountability Office on competitiveness in the title insurance industry, will address a real estate service providers’ conference in Washington, D.C., in April, the group said today.
Oxley will speak during the Real Estate Services Providers Council’s 2006 Annual Conference, “Making Your Affiliated Businesses & Strategic Alliances More Effective,” on April 5, 2006.
While Oxley has announced his retirement in January 2007, he continues to be at the center of public policy debates affecting the home buying and financing marketplace. Last year, he commissioned a study on competitiveness in the real estate brokerage industry and he remains a key decision maker in current Congressional debates over the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Government Sponsored Enterprises, predatory lending, and banks in real estate.
Other featured speakers at RESPRO’s annual conference include Robert Porter Lynch of the Warren Company, who will speak on business innovation through affiliated businesses and strategic alliances; Erin Toll, Colorado deputy insurance commissioner, who will discuss “The State Regulator’s Point of View on Affiliated Businesses” and Ivy Jackson, HUD’s RESPA enforcement director, who will address “HUD Enforcement Targets and Priorities.”
RESPRO’s Annual Conference also will highlight cross-marketing strategies, regulatory compliance issues, and idea-sharing roundtables for affiliated businesses and strategic alliances.
RESPRO is a national trade association of real estate broker-owners, real estate franchisers, mortgage lenders, title insurers and agencies, home builders, technology companies, home service and settlement service providers.
