CityCribs.com, a housing marketplace for New York City apartment and home rentals and sales, has launched CribsMap, a property-mapping tool that is based on the popular Google Maps platform, and also announced national expansion plans.
With the new viewing interface, CityCribs users can search for New York City apartments and homes on a map and then click to receive details on property listings.
“We’re excited to introduce CribsMap because it brings a new interactive experience to people looking for New York homes,” said Gea Elika of CityCribs. “It made sense to expand our services and make it even easier to find a place to live.” Users can filter CribsMap results by selecting a borough, property type, price and desired number of bedrooms. Once a request is entered, each apartment or house location is then overlaid onto a Google map. Each listing is displayed as a pushpin, and by clicking on the pushpin, a small window pops up with the property details, price and a thumbnail image, according to the CityCribs announcement.
The CribsMap interface allows users to click and drag to scroll the map to another area, and also has zoom capabilities. There are also options to view the map as an aerial photo or as a hybrid image that combines aerial photography with superimposed street names.
Buyers and renters can utilize the map tool to choose listings with specific criteria – such as two-bedroom apartments for $3,500 in Manhattan – and then see a map with all of the listings graphically represented. No sign-up is required to access this tool
CityCribs.com is planning to expand its services to cover the New Jersey, Los Angeles and Miami markets, with additional plans “to cover all major metropolitan U.S. cities in the near future,” the announcement states.
Founded in January 2004, CityCribs connects consumers with leading real estate agents and services. The company is not a brokerage and does not collect a commission from sales or rentals; rather, it serves as an interactive community for home seekers and realtors.
