CEO of luxury real estate firm once bused tables

Shari Chase’s motto is to live simple, think big and make a difference. Chase founded Chase International more than 19 years ago, and the company has since become a well-known brand for luxury real estate.

Her vision and reputation as a trendsetter influences the way luxury properties are marketed today. As CEO and president of Chase International, Chase’s leadership has attracted some of the finest professionals in the business, and a clientele second to none.

Chase International covers all of Lake Tahoe in California and Nevada and recently opened a new office in Reno, Nev. Chase has five offices in two states, and has an international office in London.

Here are Chase’s answers to a set of questions posed by Inman News:

What type of home were you born in and where?

A tiny cottage with a picket fence in Rossland, British Columbia.

What style of home do you live in today and when did you buy it?

A 1930s old Tahoe-style single-story with two cottages, marina and beach – purchased more than 10 years ago. And an 1890s house that was an artist’s studio in the heart of South Kensington.

What worries keep you awake at night?

A deal that is not coming together.

Describe your dream home?

A modern contemporary with glass, views and great art.

What lesson did you learn in the last year?

The simpler I live the happier I am. My motto: live simple, think big and make a difference.

What was your first job?

Bus girl at my Mom’s restaurant.

What’s the strangest thing you ever packed in a suitcase?

Cake mix heading for Vienna.

What would your second career choice be after real estate?

Author or archeologist.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Classical.

Who is your hero?

My Mom, hands down.
