Real estate exec takes novel approach

For more than 20 years, Pam O’Connor has managed networks, which ultimately were consolidated into the present company, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.

Leading Real Estate Companies is a national network of independent residential real estate firms and focuses on the special needs of individuals and families relocating from one area to another.

Formerly known as the RELO network, the organization encompasses 650 local and regional real estate brands in residential real estate, with 4,700 offices and 120,000 sales associates in the U.S. and 24 other countries.

In addition to her work with Leading Real Estate Companies, O’Connor is a frequent relocation industry speaker and author.

O’Connor will speak during Real Estate Connect in New York City, Jan. 11-13, 2006.

Here are her answers to a set of questions posed by Inman News:

What kind of house did you grow up in and where?

Many houses in many places as a Navy brat, from base housing to regular three-bedroom houses from Patuxent River, Md., to Key West and Pensacola, Fla., and later (after my dad retired) in Johnson City, Tenn.

What style of home do you live in and when did you buy it?

A traditional 3,500-square-foot brick Georgian bought in 1997 when we moved to Wheaton, Chicago, from Atlanta. The house was about seven years old then.

What worries keep you awake at night?

Being too successful and getting on the radar screens of competitors who didn’t pay much attention to us in the past!

Describe your dream home:

A large traditional home with six or seven bedrooms and great entertaining areas to accommodate multiple houseguests, on the water somewhere.

What lesson did you learn in the last year?
