Provocative cultural journalist and New York Times best-selling author Michael Gross is a contributing editor at Travel & Leisure and a contributing writer at Radar. He has previously held positions at The New York Times, New York Magazine, George and Esquire.
Gross’s writing has also appeared in Vanity Fair, Interview, Details, Elle, Architectural Digest, American Photo, Town & Country, Cosmopolitan, the Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune, the Village Voice, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Chicago Tribune.
Gross has profiled subjects from John F. Kennedy Jr. to Greta Garbo, Richard Gere and Ivana Trump, and he has written on subjects such as divorce, plastic surgery, Greenwich Village and sex in the ’90s. He is the author of “740 Park: The Story of the World’s Richest Apartment Building;” The New York Times best-selling “Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women,” which was published in eight countries; “My Generation,” a biography of the Baby Boom generation; and “Genuine Authentic: The Real Life of Ralph Lauren.” He lives in New York City.

Born in Manhattan, raised in a Levitt house on Long Island, N.Y.
What style of home do you live in today and when did you buy it?
A parlor floor of an 1842 Greek Revival row house, bought in 1988.
What worries keep you awake at night?

Describe your dream home:
An entire Greek Revival townhouse.
What lesson did you learn in the last year?
Sacred cows make the tastiest hamburger.
What was your first job?
Rock critic.
Which daily newspaper do you read and which section do you read first?
New York Times, New York Post, Gawker.com — business, then arts, then gossip.
Where did you spend your last vacation?
Ponza.
What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
Making a living in my profession.
What are your favorite technology devices or software applications?
The newest one — currently an Airport Extreme, but I hope you will give me a Treo 700 for appearing at your conference.
