Long-term mortgage interest rates dropped Wednesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield remained at 4.39 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average fell to 5.46 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate dipped to 5.08 percent. The 1-year adjustable was up slightly at 3.86 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield nudged up to 4.58 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 21.26 points, or 0.2 percent, finishing at 10,594.41. The Nasdaq fell 16.38 points, or 0.75 percent, closing at 2,157.81.
