Further consolidating the title insurance industry, Stewart Title Co. has acquired two title companies, one in Alaska, one in Florida, the firms said this week.
McKinley Title & Trust of Wasilla, Alaska and Midwest Title of Naples, Fla., are now part of Stewart Title. In both cases, existing management and staff will remain with the companies, except in the case of R.M. “Dick” Vogel, owner of Midwest Title, who is retiring.
“We know being part of this larger company will offer more resources for our customers,” said Lynn Baker, president of McKinley Title, in a statement. Stewart has more than 7,800 offices and agencies throughout the United States and the world.
“I have been acquainted with the management of Stewart Title for at least 40 years. Stewart has always been the company I admired most in the industry for the way they deal with their customers, employees and their social obligations to the community,” said Vogel of Midwest Title.
Stewart acquired Celebrity Escrow of Northridge, Calif. in November 2004. As with the most recent two acquisitions, existing management and staff will remain with that office.
Stewart Title is a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corp.
