Real estate appraisers nationwide will gather in the nation’s capital next week for the second annual Washington Appraisal Summit, hosted by the Appraisal Institute, the American Society of Appraisers and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
Noted real estate writer and analyst Anthony Downs will be the keynote speaker at the event slated for Dec. 13-14. The Summit brings together a wide range of speakers from government and industry to discuss issues of concern to real estate appraisers.
The Summit will feature discussions and debate on such issues as eminent domain and economic development, takings and rights of ways, privacy and open access to public records, federal housing policy and combating mortgage fraud and predatory lending.
In addition to Downs, who is a Senior Fellow of the Brookings Institution, representatives from many leading government agencies are scheduled to attend, including spokespersons from the Environmental Protection Agency; Federal Highway Administration; U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Fannie Mae; Freddie Mac; federal financial institution regulatory agencies; The Appraisal Foundation; the Appraisal Subcommmittee; and the Association of Appraisal Regulatory Officials.
