Over the past several years the majority of loan closing involved a remote notary, or notary signing agent, in some form during the closing process. Legislation, technology and distribution now enable the conversion of traditional paper-based home loan documents to a viewable and signable electronic file.
Three entities have combined efforts to bring the future of in home, home-loan document signing here today: CBC-Nationwide Document Service is providing a national distribution and management network of trained and tested electronic signing agents; Safedocs is a secure digital ASP closing and post closing end to end turn-key work flow solution that uses multi-optional eSigning methods including biometric, PKI signatures and digital notary seals to execute digital closing loan documents; and the National Notary Association‘s legislative and e-commerce activities have set the stage for this process.
Training is currently underway to equip and train traveling Notaries Public to present loan documents for signature via their laptop computer, in the borrower’s home, office or any chosen location.
